First up, we have one of our new and incoming board members, Stephanie Donohoo!

Stephanie is a Certified Public Accountant at Sirls & Associates PLLC on Poplar Street in Benton.

What are some general aspects of a typical day in your job?

"My day-to-day work life is greatly affected by month-end processes for business clients and our busy tax season, but generally my days consist of financial reporting, tax planning, and business consulting.

Lately, I've been seeing more clients requesting assistance with resolution of tax issues in addition to pandemic-related grant and loan applications."

What does the Chamber mean to you?

"The Chamber is a great resource for helping local businesses succeed and grow. I appreciate their proactive approach, especially lately, and am excited to be a part of it now as a board member!"

Up next, we have another one of our new board members, Tammy Blackwell!

Tammy is the Director of Marshall County Public Library.

What are some general aspects of your job?

"My job as a library director is to keep the library running smoothly and ensure that we're meeting the needs of Marshall County. Libraries are all about information and learning. In my job, that means gathering information about who and where we are as a community, and learning new ways to expand our services and build a stronger community."

What does the Chamber mean to you?

"That desire to build a stronger community is why I am so excited to be a part of the Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber and the library both want to make Marshall County the best place it can be for our families, friends, and neighbors, and I believe that together we can accomplish great things."

Next up, we have another one of our awesome new board members, Vicki Wynn!

Vicki is the Agent for Family & Consumer Sciences at the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service in Marshall County.

What are some general aspects of your job?

"I collaborate with local individuals, agencies, and organizations to design and implement educational programming that impacts the health and well-being of Marshall County families."

What does the Chamber mean to you?

"One of my responsibilities in Cooperative Extension is to be actively involved with community and economic development. I believe the Chamber provides networking for local businesses and business owners in many ways. It provides support and opportunities for small businesses to gain exposure in the local community with potential for increased recognition and revenue. It is a privilege to work more closely with the Chamber in these efforts!"

Next up, we have the last of our new board members, Nathan Brandon!

Nathan is the owner of Studio 270 Media Company in Calvert City.

What are some general aspects of your job?

"Each day always looks different as I work on all sorts of projects. That could be running and doing photo shoots, video shoots, graphic design, or web design."

What does the Chamber mean to you?

"The Chamber is more than just a marketing team to me, it is a way to show the community you care and offers a chance to give back to others in the community."

Jim is the Owner of West Kentucky Xerographics in Benton.

What are some general aspects of your job?

"My general daily activities are anything from helping a client make a purchase decision to ensuring that the Xerox equipment they have is operational. Of course, as the owner I also tend to the financial aspect of West Kentucky Xerographics."

What does the Chamber mean to you?

"The chamber provides the opportunity to engage and network with other businesses of the community. Also, just simply getting to meet other people who have the same ambitions for our county."

Kyla is a Financial Advisor for Raymond James Hendrickson Wealth & Retirement in Benton.

What are some general aspects of your job?

"Each day I meet with clients to help them achieve their long term financial goals. This includes retirement planning, income planning, as well as the tax strategies to keep them on track. The personal relationships we build and helping people see their dreams become reality is what keeps me passionate about my business."

What does the Chamber mean to you?

"The Chamber has a huge impact on the community by being a connector of people. In my mind, it's our daily responsibility to help connect people to the goods and services they desire while promoting our local businesses."

Tammie is the owner and manager of West Ky Aquaponics in Draffenville.

What are some general aspects of your job?

"My work day consists of seeding, harvesting and delivering lettuce that we grow. I do our bookkeeping and supply management. I also conduct greenhouse tours and consulting."

What does the Chamber mean to you?

"When I became a business owner, I was excited about being able to join the local chamber and to serve on the Board of Directors. I have learned so much about the businesses in our community, have had great networking opportunities and made some friends that I otherwise would not have met."

Eric is an Attorney at Long & Long, PLLC in Benton.

What are some general aspects of your job?

"My practice is primarily focused on real estate, estate planning, probate and business transactions. Thus, my typical day revolves around addressing and assisting clients with their legal needs relating to those areas."

What does the Chamber mean to you?

"To me, the Chamber is a unique partnership where local businesses are able to join together for the betterment of the entire local business community. The uniqueness being it allows businesses which may be competitors, as well as businesses from completely different industries, to unite for the benefit of all."

Crystal is the Principal Broker and Owner of The Jeter Group in Calvert City.

What are some general aspects of your job?

"My team serves buyers, sellers, and investors in the real estate market. Each day is different. The real estate market is constantly changing. Some days are long and others seem to go by very quickly. Each day is challenging for our clients and we help them navigate those challenges!"

What does the Chamber mean to you?

"The chamber is a great way to give back to other businesses and to the community as a whole!"

Leslie is a Certified Utility Accountant and Office Manager for Benton Electric System.

What are some general aspects of your job?

"With Benton Electric System the job titles do not reflect the number of duties our employees perform daily. Everyone has to be versatile and that's what makes the team work. My responsibilities include accounting, financial planning and reporting, human resources, and management of all business and finances."

What does the Chamber mean to you?

"Serving on the Board of Directors is my way of becoming better connected with our community and the ratepayers we serve on Benton Electric System. The more you engage within the Chamber, the more aware you become of issues and challenges that businesses face. I hope to help our team find solutions to some of those problems and challenges. Advocating for businesses in your area is a very important part to improving the overall well-being of the entire community."

Up next, we have our 2020 Board Chairman and current Past-Chair, Wes McGregor!

Wes is the Assistant Vice President of Commercial Lending for CFSBank in Benton.

What are some general aspects of your job?

"In commercial lending, I communicate and work with clients to provide them with the capital they need to grow their business."

What does the Chamber mean to you?

"The Chamber has meant a lot to me as a young person starting my career in the business world. It has been a great way to network and find out what services are available in our community. The Chamber also provides our businesses with a voice in regard to legislation and other things that could negatively impact the local business community."

For our last board member, we have our current Chairman of the Board, Jessica Adams!

Jessica is the Marketing Director for Lake Chem Community Federal Credit Union.

What are some general aspects of your job?

"Marketing in general is such a diverse industry, my role at Lake Chem is no different. I create and preside over all of our marketing, public relations, advertising, and graphic design. I also manage and maintain all of our digital member interface, which means our website, mobile banking app, and some of the other aspects of our online banking. No two days are ever the same, it keeps you on your toes and makes every day interesting!"

What does the Chamber mean to you?

"For me, the Chamber is a way for small businesses to have conversations with large companies. It's giving brand new businesses the chance to network with businesses that have been in Marshall County for decades. It's enabling Young Professionals to know that job opportunities can be found in more places than just big cities. Its advocacy for our communities needs and support for our local economy. It's so much more than our breakfasts and dinners, its empowerment."
